New technology allows patients to get a helpful preview of how they might appear after a cosmetic surgical procedure. It is called Vectra 3D imaging and is available at Dr. Price’s practice in Guilford.
What is Vectra 3D imaging?
The Vectra 3D imaging system is a three-dimensional technology that allows patients to get an idea of what a certain cosmetic procedure will look like on their own face or body, before anything is actually done. Through the ability of this software to preview the procedure, the patient develops more realistic expectations and is able to further explain his or her preferences. The system also allows Dr. Price to discuss certain elements in the procedure that may be quite difficult to explain without a visual aid.
What can I expect during a Vectra 3D imaging process?
During your appointment Dr. Price will utilize the Vectra 3D imaging system to guide him in surgical planning. You will undergo a photo session, where we will take three-dimensional shots of the areas on your body that need treatment. The Vectra 3D equipment will take multiple, simultaneous photographs from different angles of the site, which will then be merged to create a 3D image of you.
Once the software has created your 3D image, Dr. Price can simulate a surgical procedure, and easily alter aspects of the surgery so that you can view them from multiple angles.
Where can a Vectra 3D imaging system be used?
Vectra 3D imaging can be used with various plastic surgery procedures — breast augmentation, facelift, tummy tuck, rhinoplasty, or liposuction. Dr. Price often makes use of this software to identify the options that best suit your body. It also serves as a guide for him to understand the aesthetic look that you want to achieve, and it helps you visualize the effects the procedure may have on your overall look.
What are the benefits of Vectra 3D imaging?
A visualization of possible procedures has benefits for both the patient and the surgeon. Beyond providing patients with a practical way of talking about their desired results, Vectra 3D also allows the surgeon to accurately measure parts of the body for precise surgical planning. Dr. Price has found this tool to be particularly helpful for patioents planning breast procedures.
