Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Laser Skin Rejuvenation in Guilford CT | Dr. Gary Price Sun damage, skin disorders, heredity, and aging all contribute to skin irregularities on the face and the body. Anyone can have wrinkles, skin pigmentation problems, acne scars, sunspots, and freckles. Laser skin rejuvenation can address these conditions, and Dr. Price offers three laser skin rejuvenation treatments to meet the unique needs of every patient.

What is laser skin rejuvenation?

Laser skin rejuvenation is a non-invasive procedure that combats the signs of “actinic” or sun related aging. Traditional surgical techniques remove the extra skin, which is the result of the passage of time and stretching. Laser skin rejuvenation addresses changes in the fabric of that skin, the fine wrinkles and irregular pigmentation caused by the sun and other light sources.

What are my laser skin rejuvenation options?

ActiveFX. With a single treatment, this fractional laser rejuvenation procedure offers real results with little downtime. The skin is tightened by the use of a high-energy beam of laser light that effectively reduces lines, scars, and wrinkles. It is also effective in removing brown spots and other skin irregularities. With this treatment, small “bridges” of untouched skin are left since only a fraction of the skin’s surface is treated. The healing process is much faster and you can go back to your daily routine sooner.

DeepFX. Deep FX can treat deep wrinkles and scars using an ultrapulse laser. It is effective in improving the patient’s skin tone. The laser also increases the production of collagen to create healthier and smoother skin. With DeepFX, improvements can last for many years.

TotalFX. This treatment from Lumenis combines both the ActiveFX and DeepFX systems. It treats sun-damaged skin and brown spots. It is also effective in treating wrinkles, scars, and an uneven skin tone. It is a total resurfacing treatment that offers excellent and long-lasting results.

Am I a good candidate for laser skin rejuvenation?

Anyone who is healthy may be a good candidate for this procedure. During your consultation, you will need to inform Dr. Price if you have experienced any of the following:

  • Prolonged wound healing
  • Blood clotting problems
  • Tendency to scar
  • An infectious disease such as HIV or hepatitis
  • If you have had any cosmetic surgery done

You will also have to protect your skin from the sun before your actual treatment. A patient with sunburned or tanned skin is not a candidate for laser skin rejuvenation.

What kind of recovery is involved with laser skin rejuvenation?

Depending on the individuals skin type and laser used, recovery may be as short as a day. With more aggressive “Deep” or “Total FX” treatments, it may take as long as five to seven days before makeup will hide the mild redness which will steadily fade.

We are beginning to plan for reopening of the office! We have begun to plan for a tentative reopening date of May 18th! We will be scheduling appointments beginning today, 4/27/2020, for in-office visits for that date and onward. Just leave a message for Kathleen at the office number, (203) 453-6635, and she will return your call to schedule!

Telemedicine available…
For several weeks now, we have been using a “virtual office visit “alternative which will remain available. This enables anyone with a cell phone to share a video of themselves as needed with Dr. Price and allows him to perform a consultation without you ever leaving home! These consultations are scheduled just like office visits and can be made simply by leaving a message on the office system for Kathleen…. (no new apps or changes to your phone needed!)

While you were gone…
Dr. Price has been quite busy as president of the Physicians Foundation as that organization tries to help doctors cope with the crisis. In addition, he is participating in daily remote teaching conferences organized by the Yale Plastic Surgery program. These conferences originate at Yale and other academic centers around the country and are viewed by surgeons around the world. Dr. Price is a member of the Northeast seven-state task force developing guidelines for the reopening of Plastic Surgical Ambulatory Surgery Centers as the stay at home orders and ban on elective surgery are lifted. We are hoping that elective surgery might resume as early as late May. This date is not certain yet, but we will keep you advised here.

Please stay safe and well! We are looking forward to seeing you as it becomes safe enough for you to see us!

We have been asked to curtail any elective, non-urgent procedures or appointments for the following reasons.

1. To protect our patients.

2. To protect our staff.

3. To protect our community.

4. To avoid using precious supplies that might be needed to save the lives of others.

5. It’s the law!!!

Our entire staff is thinking of you during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding and patience. We will resume in-person visits when reasonable and safe.

Stay tuned here for news and updates!!
