Double Chin Getting You Down? Check Out Kybella

Melt Away Your Double Chin

Kybella Guilford CT Self-conscious about your “submental fullness” more commonly referred to as double chin? There’s a shot for that. Before Kybella, the only way you get rid of your double chin was liposuction or other surgical options. So what is Kybella and how does it work? Let’s take a look.

What is Kybella?

Kybella is an FDA-approved drug that is identical to something your body makes called deoxycholic acid, which helps to absorb fats. It is administered through a series of non-surgical injections. There are no incisions required and the downtime is usually minimal.

Am I a good candidate for Kybella?

You may be a good candidate if you’re 18 years old or older and have excessive fat under your chin.

How many treatments are needed to see results?

This varies from patient to patient. Many patients feel they only need two or three Kybella treatments to get the desired look they want. You and Dr. Price will discuss what bothers you about your neck and chin fullness to determine the best course of action. Each treatment session takes between 15 and 20 minutes at a time. Dr. Price selects several injection sites where Kybella is administered. This process is then repeated one to three months later.

Are there any side effects?

As with any treatment, there are possible side effects. Some of these side effects include:

  • Numbness
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Residual pain
  • Areas of hardness in the treatment area

Most of these side effects are minor and go away on their own. As with any procedure, if you’re concerned about how you may be feeling after treatment, give your doctor a call. The overall recovery time from Kybella is one month.

How long do results last?

This changes depending on the patient because the number of sessions varies so much. Generally, patients report noticeable effects after 12 weeks or at least 2 sessions. After six months, the maximum results can be seen and are meant to be long-lasting if not permanent.

Those are some of the basics of Kybella. If you have more questions or would like to schedule a consultation with Dr. Price, give us a call at (203) 453-6635.
