Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck Stock PhotoAfter pregnancy or weight loss, many people are left with excess or sagging skin. Even people who maintain a normal weight can develop loose or sagging skin over time. While not a substitute for weight loss, New Haven tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) patients choose the procedure to effectively remove the excess fat and skin.

Your Options

Tummy tuck surgery, technically called abdominoplasty, can give you a flattened abdomen. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Price offers his Connecticut tummy tuck patients a variety of options to customize their procedure to their unique needs.

Most tummy tucks may be performed with intravenous sedation, a technique that offers total patient comfort without the need for general anesthesia or hospitalization. Dr. Price can perform your procedure in his private, fully-licensed operating room, giving you a convenient alternative to hospital facilities.

Full Tummy Tuck

A full tummy tuck involves tightening of the skin and muscle from the chest region down to the pubic area. It involves a long incision that usually runs just above the pubic bone and a second incision around the belly button. After the skin and muscles are tightened, the belly button is repositioned. This variation is especially effective for women whose abdominal skin and muscles have been stretched significantly from pregnancy or weight changes. Full tummy tuck patients usually take from 2 to 4 weeks to recover from their procedure.

Mini-Tummy Tuck

A mini-tummy tuck involves tightening of the skin of the lower abdomen. The procedure does not require relocation of the belly button. The scars are shorter, and the recovery is faster than with a full tummy tuck.

Endoscopic-Assisted Tummy Tuck

Endoscopic-assisted tummy tuck is a minimally invasive procedure that is perfect for patients who have weakened lower abdominal muscles and excess fat, but fairly tight abdominal skin. Instead of using a long incision, Dr. Price performs this procedure using a tiny camera (called an endoscope) and surgical instruments that are inserted through several small incisions. Advantages of this variation include shorter recovery time over other forms of abdominoplasty and minimal scarring that is easily concealed in the navel.

Dr. Price will often perform other cosmetic procedures with a tummy tuck, such as liposuction surgery, face lift & neck lift, or breast augmentation with implants in CT to provide greater enhancement.
