Body Conditions Treated

Dr. Gary Price, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Connecticut, offers cosmetic surgery procedures that can improve the majority of common body conditions including the following:

Asymmetrical or drooping breasts

Genetics, gravity, surgery, weight loss and age can lead to asymmetric or sagging breasts.  Having asymmetric breasts can affect quality of life and, for some individuals, leads to depression.  Another common cause is breastfeeding, which can lead to uneven or misshapen breasts.  Weight loss can also lead to breast asymmetry or sagging.  Breast cancer survivors are largely affected by breast asymmetry. Our Connecticut patients, including those from New Haven, choose cosmetic surgery procedures such as breast augmentation, breast lift, and breast reduction can enhance breast appearance and can improve self-image as well.

Breast appearance

If you feel your breasts are too small or too large, there are plastic surgery options, including breast augmentation, breast lift, and liposuction, which may be able to improve your self-confidence and help change the contour of your body to one that you desire.

Gynecomastia (male breasts)

This condition refers to male breasts which are overdeveloped. The gland tissue usually increases in size due to too much female hormone or a lack of male hormone, but numerous other causes are possible. It may occur in males of any age. The condition may resolve on its own for children and teenagers. For children or teenagers, surgery should be considered under certain circumstances. For example, if the gynecomastia is interfering with normal life or causing depression, surgical options such as breast reduction or liposuction may be viable options for good candidates. For adults with persistent gynecomastia, surgery may be the best treatment.

Large, heavy breasts

Large breasts may lead to back and neck pain, skin irritation, and posture problems. The constant force from the weight of excessively large breasts may cause bra straps to make uncomfortable indentations in a woman's shoulders. Heavy breasts can hinder participation in sports and may make it difficult to fit in certain clothes. Breast reduction surgery can effectively solve these problems.

Unwanted fat deposits

Even with diet and exercise, certain fat deposits often persist on the arms, abdominal area, thighs, buttocks, hips, back, knees, or calves. These deposits, small or large, may adversely affect body contour. For many in good health, exercise alone is not a practical option to remove fat deposits. Fortunately for healthy candidates, liposuction is a safe and effective method to target these fat deposits, when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Price.

Sagging skin

Our skin gradually loses elasticity due to factors such as age, genetics, weight changes, and sun damage. The combination of these factors leads to a sagging appearance of the skin. Fortunately, many procedures such as body lift and breast lift surgery are available to improve your appearance and remove sagging skin.
