- Restylane® and Perlane® are hyaluronic acid gel fillers that can be used to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds (lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth), filling and smoothing the skin. The body naturally produces hyaluronic acid that adds volume and smoothness to skin. Treatments typically last for about 6 months and can also be applied to the lips, cheeks, jowls, and other sagging facial skin.
- RADIESSE® effectively treats deeper facial folds, sunken cheeks, and surface scars. It consists of calcium hydroxyapatite, which is a substance that is naturally produced by our own bodies. This long lasting filler can provide improvements can last a year or more.
- JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel is also made with hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally occurring in human skin that helps to provide volume and hydration. It is injected under the skin to smooth away facial wrinkles, such as "smile lines" (also called nasolabial folds), which are the lines that run from the corners of your mouth to your nose. Improvements from this filler are immediately noticeable and can last for up to 1 year. Because the improvements are not permanent you have greater flexibility over your looks, since your features change as you age. JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus can be used where deeper correction is needed, such as filling volume in cheeks and lips.
- Sculptra® is designed for the restoration of the signs of facial fat loss, called lipatrophy, which can cause sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. This filler is biocompatible, safe, and synthetic. It is injected into the area of fat loss, and can help in restoring the volume and improving the appearance of these areas. The improvements are not immediate, but can last for up to 2 years. Patients with mild lipatrophy will require fewer treatments.
If you are considering treatments with any of these fillers, avoid aspirin and other anti-inflammatory medications (such as, Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, etc.) for 2 weeks before treatment in order to avoid unusual bleeding or bruising.
